Akamai Technologies

This project was the relocation of Akamai's west coast headquarters in San Mateo, California.

Akamai was growing rapidly and wanted a distinct Silicon Valley presence. It chose a building

high on a hill in San Mateo with sweeping views of South Bay.

Each project has it's own complications, this one had a lease that was expiring quickly at the existing location.

We had a summer to plan, design, build and occupy.

Other interesting components were;

         - construction of a new data center, with UPS, and back up generator (requiring full viability  

                testing prior to the move),     

         - running new electrical, telephone, and data services to the site,

         -  installing a new subflooring mid- project,

         - interior construction simultaneous to the landlord reconstructing the exterior,

         - select, order, and install a new type of furniture system.

The new space was up and running prior to the old lease expiration date!
